The Environment

Our BS: EN 14001 Certified Environmental Management demonstrates our commitment to identifying our environmental aspects and minimising the impact our local environment as well as on a wider scale.

Our Supply Chain Department source materials from approved suppliers who share our environmental principles, where practicable materials are sourced from local and then UK suppliers reducing the carbon emissions associated with material transportation.

  • We help our customers create sustainable homes and communities
  • We comply with current and identification of future legislative requirements
  • We continually improve, assess and manage environmental risk
  • We ensure more efficient use of raw materials and reductions in waste

Energy and Waste

In conjunction with our local partners, we now use 95% of our waste material for the production of electricity that is fed back into the national grid.

However, it is not just with the production of electricity we are helping, over the last six months we have consumed an incredible 29% less electricity in the production of our cabinets. Add to that the 10% reduction we have achieved in wasted raw material and we are really seeing the benefits of our 'lean manufacturing' processes.

What is Planet2050®?

Energy management is an emerging theme that has an enormous impact upon the UK construction industry.

The construction industry is required to reduce its carbon emissions by 77% before 2050 (The Green Construction Board). Planet2050® is the name of our revised sustainability strategy which explains how we are helping the housing construction industry to meet its targets.

BREEAM, New National Technical Standards and the Home Quality Mark

We have created the Planet2050® kitchen by handpicking elements from our extensive kitchen range to meet these scheme guidelines.

Planet2050® will help the construction industry to achieve the Building Regulation standards required in the The New National Technical Standards and BREEAM’s Refurbishment of Domestic Homes. We also recognise and support the requirements of BREEAM’s Home Quality Mark.

Environmental Champions

It is important that all of our people learn about how precious our planet is so that Paula Rosa Manhattan can commit to The Climate Change Act 2008.

Therefore all staff, from kitchen designers, to the manufacturing team, to surveyors, installers, our sales team, management team and directors are trained about climate change which has resulted in a workplace of environmental champions. See our environmental accreditations.
