PRM Achieves SBTi Validation for Carbon Reduction Targets
What is the SBTi and Why Does It Matter?
The Science Based Targets initiative helps companies set greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets that are consistent with limiting global warming to well below 2°C and pursuing efforts to limit it to 1.5°C, as outlined in the Paris Agreement. By aligning with SBTi, PRM demonstrates a commitment to credible, science-based climate action that supports a sustainable future.
Setting science-based targets is critical because:
- It ensures emissions reductions are aligned with climate science.
- It provides transparency and accountability.
- It positions businesses as leaders in the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Our Validated Targets
PRM has committed to ambitious targets across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 emissions:
Scope 1 & 2 (Direct and Indirect Emissions):
- Intermediate Target (2030): 50% reduction aligned with a 1.5°C pathway.
- Net-Zero Target (2050): 95% reduction aligned with a 1.5°C pathway.
Scope 3 (Value Chain Emissions):
- Intermediate Target (2030): 25% reduction aligned with a well-below 2°C pathway. (Extended target: 35% reduction by 2033).
- Net-Zero Target (2050): 95% reduction aligned with a 1.5°C pathway.
Our Decarbonisation Pathway
To the side of this article are visual representations of our reduction trajectory:
- Scope 1 & 2: 1.5°C by 2030
- Scope 3: Well-Below 2°C by 2030
Driving Ambitious Climate Action
By validating our targets through SBTi, PRM joins a global movement of businesses committed to limiting global warming and safeguarding our planet for future generations. This milestone reflects our dedication to sustainability and our role in building a resilient, low-carbon future.
A Personal Reflection
This achievement is more than a validation; it’s a statement of intent. When I reflect on our sustainability journey, from setting intermediate and long-term carbon reduction targets to engaging with education centres on carbon accounting or adaptive living, it’s clear that every step matters. For me, sustainability is about creating real impact, not just for our business but for the communities we serve. These targets challenge us to innovate, collaborate, and lead by example. I’m proud of the progress we’ve made and excited about the opportunities ahead to deliver meaningful change.
