The Corniche
170 apartments, Albert Embankment
The unique door design was submitted for approval during the tender stage and was a major contributor to being awarded this exciting development.
Location
The Corniche, situated on the southern stretch of Albert Embankment, falls within the Vauxhall, Nine Elms Battersea Regeneration Area and aims to be an exciting new region in the city centre.
Scope
Design, manufacture, supply and install 170 apartments including 2 penthouses across 2 towers, the tallest at 25 storeys, to the client's programme and design intent brief.
- To provide 3 door colour palettes (Black, White, Cream) in a high gloss painted finish with a contrasting band on wall and matching through the base units which ran continuously around the kitchen.
- A bespoke plinth detail was required to allow for a concealed light running continuously around the kitchen, including below the Dishwashers which is not usually possible.
- The package also included the supply and installation of solid work surfaces, glass mirrored splashbacks and all appliances.
Highlights
Several design solutions were required, including the continuous plinth lighting and hidden ventilation above and below all tall appliance housings.
The shark nose profile to the worktops in a mixture of Silestone and Corian finishes with a 45-degree bevel to top of the doors, created the finger pull handle detail. This detail exposed the top hinge of the wine-cooler and a bespoke 3-D printed cover was developed and manufactured to overcome this challenge.
The penthouse duplex apartments, one at the top of each tower, both had a preparation kitchen and a primary kitchen. The island run to the primary kitchen with waterfall ends was finished in a black and white Silestone with book-matched veining. 3 sets of full height pocket doors finished in a zebrano veneer with a rebated metal finger-pull handle, enclosed the primary kitchens back wall run and provided minimal disruption, designed for parties and events in mind.
