PRMF’s emissions strategy and the Global Climate Change Report
Aiming to achieve net zero by the end of 2022

At PRMF, our aim and a key driver in our strategic direction is to achieve net zero by the end of 2022 for OUR SCOPE 1 AND 2 EMISSIONS. This will mean we have achieved a balance between the amount of greenhouse gas we produce and the amount we take from the atmosphere. We are also striving to have a full understanding of the life cycle emissions of our products so our customers can make informed choices.
The Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol has set greenhouse gas accounting standards for companies and countries as well as providing tools to help countries track their progress towards their climate goals. They have classified a company’s GHG emissions into three categories:
- Scope 1: direct emissions from owned or controlled sources;
- Scope 2: indirect emissions from the generation of purchased energy;
- Scope 3: all indirect emissions (not included in scope 2) found in the value chain of the reporting company.
We are proud to have eliminated our scope 2 and production scope 1 CO2e emissions (carbon dioxide equivalent) and are now focusing on significant reductions to our transport operations. We are also on a journey to understand and eliminate our Scope 3 emissions within our supply chain and are working on having a full understanding of the life cycle emissions of our products so our customers can make informed choices.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the UN body that assesses the science related to climate change and August 2021 saw their sixth report into climate change, which carries a very stark message:
“It is unequivocal that human influence has warmed the atmosphere, ocean and land. Widespread and rapid changes in the atmosphere, ocean, cryosphere and biosphere have occurred.”
This means we are no longer heading toward a crisis point, we have arrived. Human-induced climate change is affecting climate and weather extremes in every single region. Each of us has a responsibility to act now before the situation worsens further, and manufacturing and construction sectors have to realise their own impact and how to reduce it. As a manufacturer, PRMF is now proactively seeking to reduce our footprint and emissions in as many areas of our process as possible, always with a view to improving our environmental commitment.
It is incumbent on all of us to make sustainable decisions and at PRMF sustainability is at the heart of everything we do.
